The Nature Explore Classroom at
Ruth Staples Childhood Development Laboratory

Ruth Staples Childhood Development Laboratory has
now entered into its 2nd year as a Certified Nature
Explore Classroom.

Ruth Staples CDL continues to operate their classroom with the belief that children learn best through the context of play and by building children’s confidence as learners.As a teacher training facility
they develop innovative educational approaches and model best practice in the field of early
childhood education.

35 families were involved in a bird festival which was conducted this year. The festival was hosted
by the CDL and Nebraska Games and Parks. Activities included examining real birds and museum specimens and making bird feeders. All families received a book about identifying birds.

Staff continued their professional development this year by attending a Connecting Children With Nature workshop hosted by the Child Development Lab.
